This Year's Event Date is Saturday, August 30, 2008 Come join us in Sutherlin, Oregon for the Umpqua Ultimate Triathlon, Duathlon and Run/Walk during Labor Day Weekend! Our race will be a unique experience that will take you from scenic Cooper Creek Reservoir and around the beautiful valley that is home to the City of Sutherlin. The exciting finish for all events, complete with food and entertainment, will be at Sutherlin City Park. Olympic & Sprint Triathlons The Umpqua Ultimate offers both Olympic and Sprint distance triathlon courses. The Olympic course consists of a 1.5k swim, 40k road bike and 10k road run. The Sprint course has a .75k swim, 20k road bike and 5k road run. You may compete as an individual or as part of a three-person relay team. There are relay divisions for all-male, all-female, or coed teams. You may enter a two-person team but you will compete in the same division with three-person teams. Olympic Duathlon The event will also hold an Olympic duathlon consisting of a 40k road bike and 10k road run. You may compete as an individual, or as part of a two-person relay team with all-male, all female and coed divisions. 10K Run/Walk and 5K Run/Walk We are pleased to include a 5k run/walk and a 10k run/walk in this year's event. Register along with your friends and family and enjoy a fun experience for all. Start times Olympic Triathlon & Duathlon 7:45AM, Sprint Triathlon 8:45AM, 5K & 10K Run/Walk 10:00AM Awards The top three male and female finishers in the Olympic Triathlon, Sprint Triathlon and Olympic Duathlon will receive high quality plaques. Age groups medals will be presented three deep in all the solo triathlon and duathlon divisions in each of the following age ranges: 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 and over. The top three relay teams in each division will receive medals. There are no relay team age group awards. The top three male and female finishers in the 10K run and 5K run will receive medals. Age group ribbons will be presented three deep. The age groupings will be the same as the triathlon and duathlon ranges. ALL triathlon and duathlon participants will receive a custom FINISHER MEDAL. Registration Online registration closes August 27, 2008 at 12:00AM PST. Mail-in registration must be received by August 27, 2008. A mail-in form may be downloaded from our website. Last minute registration will be available at packet pick-up August 29, 2008 from 11:30PM – 6:45PM. THERE IS NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION. Packet Pick-up Packet pick-up will August 29, 2008 from 11:30PM – 6:45PM in the downtown Sutherlin Community Building. Take I-5 exit 136 and go east for approximately 1.25 miles on Central Avenue to S. Willamette Street. The address is 150 S. Willamette Street and is adjacent to a park with an historic train on display. Late packet pick-up for the triathlon and duathlon events will be at the Community Center on race day from 5:30AM - 7:30AM. Please note the shuttle bus times below so you don't miss your start time. Late packet pick-up for the 5K & 10K run/walk will be at the Community Center on race day from 6:00AM - 9:45AM. Parking & Transportation The Olympic, Sprint and Duathlon courses are point-to-point race so a shuttle is required. Participants will use their own vehicles to transport their equipment to the bike and run transition areas on race morning. The transition areas will open at 6:00AM. Park anywhere in the vicinity of Sutherlin High School which is where the bike/run transition is located. Buses will transport racers and spectators to Cooper Creek Reservoir with the last bus for the Olympic Triathlon and Duathlon leaving the high school at 7:00AM. The last bus for the sprint triathlon will leave the high school at 8:00AM. The shuttle is FREE and also available to spectators. Spectators may return with any bus departing the reservoir. The last bus will depart the reservoir once all the racers are out on the bike course. You may provide your own shuttle but keep in mind that parking is VERY limited at Cooper Creek Reservoir. 5K and 10K run/walk participants will start and finish at Sutherlin City Park. There is ample street parking and no shuttle is required. Course Support Participants are required to carry their own nutrition and hydration supplies on the bike segment. There will be a couple of aid stations on the bike course for water bottle exchange. There will be aid stations on the run course with water, sports drinks and toilets at two mile intervals - as well as in the transition and finish areas. There is no support allowed on the bike course. Racers must be prepared to make their own repairs. Spectators are kindly urged not to drive along the course as it creates a potentially serious safety issue and detracts from the athlete's enjoyment of the event. Please respect this request. Lodging You are encouraged to use lodging in the City of Sutherlin as your base camp to explore the surrounding area. Go to www.visitsutherlin.com/chamber for lodging and dining options.
